So When are you Too Old to Wear a Bikini

If you’re looking for a foolproof way to spark an amazing debate, you don’t need to bring up anything related to politics, religion or the pros and cons of breastfeeding, vaccinations and the cry-it-out method. All you have to do is mention that you think it’s inappropriate for a woman of a certain age to don a bikini when she’s on the beach or lying by the pool. That’s right ladies; there are some people in the world that think they can enlist a dress code for woman of a ‘certain’ age. Of course, no one can actually name that age. Some say 35. Others say after you’ve had kids. More say 40 and up is too old for a two-piece. Want to know what we think? We think the opinions of others don’t actually matter in the least.

Girl, if you are comfortable in a bikini (via cheap bikinis online), rock that thing. I don’t care if you’re 80 or 18. If we are going to get into the debate about age and bikinis, we might as well get into the debate about weight and bikinis. Or men and speedos. Or thongs in general. But guess what? We are not going to go there in any way, shape or form (pun absolutely intended) because WE DON’T CARE. If you’ve got the confidence it takes to wear a bikini, wear it proud. There will always be people that each and every one of us would rather not see in a bikini – my mom, for instance. And not because she’s in her 50s or because her body has changed over the years; because she’s my mom and seeing her in a bikini freaks me out. There. I said it.

I’ll be up front with you right now, and I don’t intend to sound conceited or whatever. I’m going to wear a bikini until I’m no longer comfortable in one. I rocked my bikini 4 weeks after giving birth to my twins a year ago – and they were my 3rd and 4th babies. I rocked it like nobody’s business – and I continue to do so today. I work hard to keep myself in shape and I’m not ashamed of that. And if my body still looks as great at 40 as it does at 31, I’m still wearing a bikini. If it still looks as good at 50 as it does now, I’ll still rock a bikini. And you should, too.

If you really want to tell someone to stop wearing a bikini – tell little girls who just aren’t old enough to show off that much skin.
